Try to avoid duplicate content penalties

Being a webmaster, It is important that we aware about duplicate content. Because search engine always try to remove any result that showing duplicate content from another result. And this result will be signed as duplicate content and that result make reduce the reputation of site that has duplicate content.

Duplicate content is blocks of text that are copied from another page ( can be same site or other sites). Some webmaster try to use duplicate content to gain more popularity on search engine result page. They try to post many article on their site for being indexed by search engine. Badly they copied from another resources. It doesn’t meet the purpose of search engine.

How search engine determine the originality of the content? even it is difficult for search engine to know which content is original, there are some parameter that they ussually use :

Number of back link to a page
The age of the domain or content
The reputation of the domain

It is possible that innocent website being determine as duplicate content and get themselves banned or penalized. But web master still have try to avoid being penalized as duplicate content. There are something that they can do, such as :

Each page must be unique content, even if your posting same article as last article or another article that related to same theme
If your are join an affiliate system like amazon.com, try to write your own review, don’t post same review as it is published on their site.
Even it is still argued among seo community, i think it is good to put copyright on our page.
If you have identical content, block it in robots.txt file, so search engine will not index it
