Living in Jogjakarta, Again or will be?
I were lived in Jogjakarta around 1999-2004. I took IT course on Duta Wacana Christian Univercity of Jogjakarta. This univercity is placed on center of Jogjakarta at Jl. Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo No. 5-27 Jogjakarta. Most of my programming skill was developed here. It is very exciting to be able living in Jogja.
The story was begin when my entry univercity examination result (was called UMPTN) shown me that i’m failed. I were little panic at that moment, because i were fill confident with myself and didn’t thinking that i will fail on the examination. But it did happen to me.
As many philosopher said, inside a failure or bad thing we can take good lesson for our life. So my brother offering me to take IT Course on UKDW Jogjakarta. A city that i were never thinking before that i will living on there for long time. Also never thinking that i will love this city so much.
First time in Jogja
So short i have been passed the entry examination on UKDW Jogjakarta for IT Course. On that moment I still living with my high school friend from Bali. It was too short time to find a house beside the campus for rent at very beginning of semester. So about 1 month i were looked for renting a house. Acctually not a house just only one living room.
It were very terrible on first month, i didn’t have vehicle to go to campus. The campus is far from my friend house ( Indonesian : Kost ). So i have to find a bus that have route to my campus. I still remember the bus number, 7. It is a bad transportation because it is not so comfortable and the most thing is the bus is not operated at night. So i always got problem when there is a lab work at night.
Living in Jogja
I’m happy that on second month everything is going okay. I have motorcycle and my own living room on Condong Catur. Even it is far away from campus, but finally i know this was a good decision. I knew a lot of people from diferent provinces and campus.
My school in Jogjakarta also going okay, even i’m not a diligent student and often absent for some subject. But my focus on programming skill is going good. I learn about how to program and use many major programming language like VB, Delphi, Java dan PHP.
During these four a half year, i were always lived in Condong catur Jogjakarta. And it was only two diferent house that i ever rented. Not a good one but i would never forget about living on there. And finally on 2004 i graduated from Univercity and found an IT company in Bali. I were back to Bali for work around August 2004. And never come back again.
I’m dreaming that i can visit Jogjakarta again. And it will be a pleasure if i can living in Jogjakarta again even for short time, because i love Jogjakarta. I will always miss Jogjakarta. Hope some day i can living on there again.
